We are a Bible-believing church committed to growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ through regular worship, prayer, Bible Study and connecting to one another.
You’ll meet people who are just like you. Maranatha Chapel is all about people: babies, kids, youth and young adults, singles, young families and seniors too! We’re business people, self-employed entrepreneurs, stay-at-home parents, techies, retirees, retail employees and medical professionals.
You’ll be warmly greeted and made to feel Welcome. From the moment you walk through our doors, you will find friendly greeters who will make you feel right at home. We ask that you take time to complete a visitor's card which will provide our pastor the necessary information about you should you desire follow up.
You'll observe people worshipping God using culturally-relevant music; a mixture of the old and the new with modern communication tools to help you experience God in new and creative ways. You’ll see us worship the Lord as we give an offering too.
You’ll hear the Bible preached by our pastors because we believe it to be incredibly effective in addressing the deepest needs and highest aspirations of the human heart.
Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers.
We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. It is there that the lost will be found. Most churches find it is comfortable to stay within the walls, but we make it an effort to be like the church from the book of Acts, to see our city changed.
We highly value our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.
One cold December evening in 1979, a woman with a vision to reach young people opened her home to a group of nine young adults simply wanting to know more about the Bible. Elizabeth N. Bolling, affectionately known as "Grandmom" was a Pied Piper of young and old alike. Her no non-sense approach to scripture and loving and caring heart for "her kids" touched the lives of countless young people over a period thirty years. In just weeks after outgrowing her small kitchen, Grandmom and her kids, about thirty in all, held Friday meetings in her son's basement and eventually found regular meeting places in small community halls in Harewood Park and Wilson Point. For years, hundreds of teens and adults from the surrounding community would attend the "Coffeehouse" every Friday evening for fellowship, Bible Study and praise and worship. While never advocating a denomination or specific church to attend, the Maranatha Coffeehouse had encouraged its supporters to attend a Bible-believing church.
